My kitchen sink smells........Help?

Does anyone know the best way to stop your sink from stinking?

Saw this on Kim and Aggie yesterday...

(from memory, so don't quote me on this)
2 tbsp salt, shoved down the sink, followed by a glug of white vinegar, then some borax.

Leave for a short while and then tip boiling water down as well, and it should clear anything.

i pour boiling water from the kettle down my kitchen sink every week or so which seems to stop any smells.
