Any ideas on getting oil out of carpet?

Dh has trodden oil of the thick black type onto the carpet.

Any ideas on removal?

Of the stain not dh

or soap powder and washing up liquid (it takes oil off your hands/clothes anyway???)

Thanks sazm, my Dad gave me some swarfega and it's got most of it off.
