Need help with whitening plimsoles!

Ds has some new style trainers that are very much like plimpsoles but more protective. They are not for school but everyday use. They are the canvasy material like P.E plimsoles.

Anyway..he went to a foam party in them and the dye from his jeans (black) has given the plimsoles a grey tye-dye look. Have washed them in washing machine but it hasn't made any difference.

Any ideas on how to whiten them? someone said bleach but not sure how much to use.

Thanks!

Plimsoll/ trainer whitener can be used on canvas shoes as well as leather ones:

It is very satisfying to paint on!

Can anyone remember what plimsoll whitener used to be called.
Was having a debate with FIL at the weekend.
He used stuff when he did his national service.
I had a more 1970s type memory.
