It's coming out of the wash with yellow stains on it.....very annoying as it's ruined one of my favourite tops!

Any suggestions? Anything I can put in the wash to stop it?

Have you got suntan lotion on it?

no, it's coming out on my towels as well?

Ok I'm stumped then. I know sun lotion turns white stuff yellow - something to do with chemicals reacting to detergent.

I used to get that with certain fabric softeners.

Just spotted your post, this used to happen to my washing. A friends mum said it was due to washing on low temps most of the time. I did as she suggested and use a boil wash around 70 once a month and it stopped. Not sure of the science behind it though.

just out of interest, where do you put your poweder, tabs etc??

I used to get stained washing when I used to place the washing tabs in the machine drum (ie, in with the clothing).

since going to putting it in the draw again tho, there is much less stainage, and what is stained is down to obvious reasons (ie, mistakenly putting a red sock in the white washing)

I would look at rhe pipes see if anything has got clogged in them.
