How much does it cost to have a BIG 3 seater sofa recovered?

That's it really. The fabric is looking a bit worn, but all the cushions and frame appear to be in good condition.

Has anyone else had this done? Any ideas on prices would be great.

Thanks

Well I've just had mine quoted and was told it'd be about £350 labour and then whatever material I chose on top. The guy said if I chose an average but good material it'd be around £800 all in.

I've just had a quote for about £600 for 2 sofas and a footstool. That was from Plumbs

pickupthismess · 24/04/2009 09:29

Wow Tommy that was a greta quote. Who are Plumbs?

goldrock · 24/04/2009 09:34

It depends if you want loose covers or a re-upholstery - I had a quote from Plumbs for the latter and it was over £2,000, we bought a new suite for just over half that.

bratnav · 24/04/2009 09:34

Wow, that is a lot, but we love our sofa and I suppose it would cost way more that to replace it with something similar.

It is an unusual shape, would Plumbs be able to do that?

ours were loose covers - we need to take them off and wash them

Plumbs

The bloke was very helpful and not too salesman-y at all

Tommy - did he come out to your house?

I am nervous of buying covers only for them not to fit.

yes - he came to the house. Our sofas are regular size and shape apparently so he said he could just get the covers made (hence not so expensive)

I have a Dutalier nursing chair which badly needs recovering as well but he said that would be too expensive and that I should find a local upholsterer to do it!

So....nice bloke and he hasn't hassled me about the fact that I haven't placed an order yet

Fantastic, thanks Tomy, that's really helpful
