I started decorating DD bedroom last night, did th first coat, needs a second today. The paint on the walls looks quite patchy but I think because you can still see the paint underneath in some areas. I was wondering if I added abit of water would make it go on better?

no, it would make it thinner

As nancy says, the paint would be thinner so wouldn't cover the old paint as well. You'll hopefully find the second coat will do the trick anyway, unless the colour underneath is very dark, in which case it may need a third coat.

Knew I should have used white as an undercoat. I have now given it a second coat but its still patchy. Still need to cut in around ceiling and behind radiator (which I have prob got enough left for) but it may need another coat and def not enough for that. What do i do, dont want to buy another tin as wont use much of it! Dont think they do smaller tins, this one is 2.5ltr

Is it dry yet? It won't look right till it's dry, so there may still be hope! I don't think they do anything smaller than 2.5ltr for emulsion I'm afraid, apart from the tiny sample ones.
