how do you stop birds stealing the cream from milk bottles?

For the second time since we started getting milk delivered off the milkman the blardy birds have been at the cream at the top of bottle of whole milk. They're not soft - they haven't bothered wtih the semiskimmed - just DS's whole milk, but it's getting wasted as I don't want to give him it knowing there could be bird germs in it!

What do people do to stop that happening - leave something out for the milkman to put over the top it if? Like an upturned yoghurt pot or something?

Yes yoghurt pots are the answer ...

Get a milk bottle holder with a lid.

Bloody hell, if the yoghurt pot idea doesn't work I think I'll go back to getting it from Tesco! Nice though they are, those Milksafe hings are 30 quid! Unless Wilkos do one for a lot cheaper, I don't think I'll bother.

Honestly, the milkman has cocked up the delivery twice already in the 2 weeks we've been getting it from him, so we've had to go and get some from the shops, only to find that it was put outside the neighbour's house by mistake. Twice the birds have wrecked it, and it's not cheap at 73p a pint for organic!

Can't see much advantage to it at the moment - we've got a massive Tesco's 2 minutes drive away. I like the idea of recycling the milkman's glass bottles, and actually the whole milk DOES taste creamier, but apart from that I'm not sure why we're bothering with the milkman......

Why dont you ask the milkman to give you a milk box. They do have them if you ask, they are white, don't look pretty but do the job.
good luck

Bark at them.

Oh yes, looked on their website, and there are a couple of things that would work for less than a tenner. Have put an order in for some insulated thing that holds 4 bottles.

Thanks!
