I always have a pile of washing waiting to be done and a giant mound of ironing waiting to be done.

No matter how much time I dedicate to this task it is never finished.

I have found a new and better way. There is no more ironing pile

See what I do now is, when the dryer is finished, I take the clothes out and put them away. No more ironing. Life feels so much easier now. And we have regained a sofa

Bliss.

You're preaching to the choir here. The only things that ever get ironed here are DH's work shirts and he does that himself.

Yurtgirl · 05/04/2009 20:40

I only iron what actually NEEDS to be ironed and hence only get ironing board out once a month

chequersmate · 05/04/2009 20:41

I don't even put them away, let alone iron.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 05/04/2009 20:41

I used to iron everything even DH's boxers

Not now though.

no - but you can still TELL that they haven't been ironed, they don't look right in the drawers/wardrobe if they've not had a hot piece of metal against them first.

I can tell if something has been ironed or not and it would make my skin crawl

BananaFruitBunny · 05/04/2009 20:42

Oh I solved the problem of the overflowing laundry basket by buying a bigger one.

What's ironing?

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 05/04/2009 20:43

Hmmm a timer you say? Interesting. Dd2 might be a bit young but dd1 could do that.

Have I found a way to get out of the ironing and the tidying?

Now if only I could train the dog to fill the washer, life would be grand.

LOL fruitbunny at buying larger laundry basket

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 05/04/2009 20:45

Banana, my bathroom is my laundry basket atm. And my bedroom floor. Some of the washing is age 0-3 months. My youngest dc is 2 in may

T'is getting smaller now I know I don't have to iron the washing though.

Exactly Banana- what's ironing?

I don't do any. DH does his own shirts.

Voila- no ironing pile.

CompareTheMeerkat · 05/04/2009 20:46

Nothing gets ironed here. If when you get your clothes out they need ironing then you do it then.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 05/04/2009 20:47

I found another way too. I chucked out loads of socks, pants, towels and t-shirts - you know the ones that get worn when you start running out of things to use? And creates more washing? Well I got rid of tons. Much less washing.

And I never Iron. We bought a new iron just before xmas, to replace the one DH had since he was a student over 10 years ago. I used it for the first time week after valentines day, and not again yet!

StealthPolarBear · 05/04/2009 20:49

We've been in this house since November 2007 and I hvae ironed twice - do I win?

FrayedKnot · 05/04/2009 20:50

Another tip, if you fold things quite carefully, and then pile it up in a laundry basket for 24 hours before putting it away, it virtually irons itself.

ruddynorah · 05/04/2009 20:51

nope no ironing here.

bran · 05/04/2009 20:53

Are we all hoping for someone to come along and call us slatterns so that we can jump on her and rumple her clothes?

PuppyMonkey · 05/04/2009 20:57

You're not using your dryer on a lovely sunny day like today are you? get it out on the washing line!

onadietcokebreak · 05/04/2009 21:00

I havent ironed for 18 mths!

Got a brand new steam generator that has not been used in over 6mths. Going to lend it to a friend and then they can show me how to use it!

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 05/04/2009 21:03

Puppymonkey all my pegs are being used to hang up the half of the sofa that DH decided to bath. I am too lazy to go in search of new pegs. Some things are on the line but then I ran out of pegs.
