Is it getting stained from shampoo or shower gel?

Have you considered the adhesive plastic strip? It has a right angle and you just apply around the bath etc.

Make sure he is using bathroom sealant not just ordinary sealant. (it will say on the tube)

Also, if your bathroom is excessively damp any sealant will discolour no matter how good it is. Do you have an extraction fan/ leave a window open for a while after a bath/shower etc.
Have you checked that the ventilation brick hasn't been covered over?

Have you tried bleaching it? We get stuff like that growing on ours (but we're in a rented house so can't be bothered to sort it out long-term ).

Its just gets so manky, we replace it.

Dont think bathroom gets really damp and tend to open window for a bit after a shower.

Domestos Grot Buster will clean of the discolouration.

LilRedWG · 05/04/2009 21:59

We get pink/red mould too.

kingprawntikka is right - Domestos Grot Buster is the way forward! Did a great job on ours.

DOMESTOS GROT BUSTER I heart it after reading all about it on here I gave it a go.

Tis fantastic on the old pink soap scum and did wonders with a bit of black dotty mould.

Re the sealant change it to mould and mildew resistant stuff and then domestos it to death [bgrin

Hi,we have a product called silirub 1 universal (daft name!). It has a strong anti fungicide in it, preventing mould growth and discolouring.
available from www.uksealants.co.uk. Good luck..

Grot Buster here too! The best thing ever - someone told me about it here on MN, bought it for £1 on special in Asda and the ensuite now looks as good as new. Fab product!
