Window treatments for privacy

Next door have access to their back garden via a narrow path between our houses, from our drive, passing two small downstairs windows. One is our hallway , the second our downstairs loo which has rippled glass.

I want to replace the very 80's curtain and austrian blind and had thought of making simple voile panels. Will this look really odd ? Any other suggestions. I want to screen the view inside but allow light in as that is our only source of natural light into the hall and it is pretty limited anyway. Walls are cream throughout so no colour issues.

I think voile would look fine. Certainly 1000 times better than the austrian blind!

Why would voile panels look odd? I think voile would be fine.

You can also get frosted/etched glass effect stuff like sticky backed plastic to stick on the windows.

This kind of thing.

Thanks for quick replies. Sounds like voile is ok then, will have to set up the sewing machine.
