Help me get the musty smell out of my fab junk shop find!

I bought a monks bench from a secondtime around shop about 2 months ago.

I thought about shabby chic-ing it and bunging it on ebay, but have decided to do it up and put it in DSs room for all his toys.

But its got a dampish wood smell inside that is lingering. I've washed it out as best I can and aired it and now I have an airfreshner in it!

How can I get rid of the smell? And what will be best to paint on the inside?

Help me, furniture restorer pros!

Oh is it that lovely old church wooden pew smell? My friend once bought a old church organ (!!!!) and that had that wonderful smell.

Sorry no help

You could try rubbing it with an oil, that may help?
