Thanks for thread EHM Did the mission yesterday without realising it and shone brass on front door which is unheard of! To avoid doing something else probably...

Dining room mission today not nec, possibly deal with piles of books instead.

We all woke at 8.00 today rush rush rush, as human alarm clock ds2 had woken us at 4.00 and then snoozed well pst his sell-by date.
Feels like hols already.

Everyone showered and bundled into clothes
Absence note written - dd has returned to school at last
waterbottles filled
dcs breakfasted
Everyone in good mood

NOW
ironing before work
buy lots of catfood
work in school
school play in afternoon
tag rugby late pickup

all other housework when dcs return
whats for dinner? Leeks wrapped in ham in cheese sauce, broccoli and fried potatoes.

BB when ironing is complete. It is always at bottom of my list - must try harder to do it.

BiancaCastafiore · 02/04/2009 09:31

Morning

Thanks for the thread EHM I have emailed you re our meet up ove rthe holidays

Lovely to see you were here last night Luda Glad work went well.

Swan can I come for dinner with you? No-one else in our house likes leeks so I never get to eat them

I managed to go out last night and had a good time. I was pressurised into joining everyone in a taxi home which triggered my axniety Big Time and I ended up crying and admitting to the others in the group that I had problems with journeys I am soooo much better than I was but the prospect of a taxi journey was a step too far I hope I didn't spoil things for the others. Other than that it was a really lovely evening

I now have to go with dh to collect my car. I need to call in to work so will do that while I'm out. I usually help at school on a Thursday but they don't need me today so I have an unexpected afternoon at home to get some jobs done before the end of term tomorrow lunchtime.
I hope to tackle upstairs with the hoover, do some laundry and hopefully get in the garden too

swanriver · 02/04/2009 09:44

Bianca, Is it journeys full stop or just some? Dh finds all journeys give him anxiety, (unfortunately he has to do lots of business trips as well) The only way he copes is by leaving at crack of dawn so that he doesn't have to even think about it. I find packing - leaving house gives me terrible anxiety/paralysis but journeys I have no problem with. I love being "on the road" for some obscure reason.
It's all very strange how things affect us. I'm sure your friends have anxieties/issues of THEIR own that you would never dream of having so you mustn't worry that they thought it odd.

Ironing

wendyrednoseredhair · 02/04/2009 09:54

hello all
DD has chicken pox and so do I!!! Was unwell yesterday with mild flu symptoms, then a lot worse last night and today. Very hot, feverish, aching all over etc. Have only found three chicken pox spots so far but no doubt there will be more.
Great timing, isn't it? Get my keys for the new house tomorrow and a big family wedding next Saturday!
Do you think the doctor will give me anti viral drugs?! Just going to look it up now think I've heard adults are often given anti virals for chicken pox.

BiancaCastafiore · 02/04/2009 11:57

Oh dear Wendy hope you and dd are over the worst soon x

Swan it's pretty much all journeys except those I'm very familiar with (and even those cause the occasional problem) I am hugely better than I was (I couldn't even walk the kids the 10mins to school a couple of years ago without being ill but do all that kind of thing now without a second thought ) but can't imagine ever being relaxed about going anywhere... Dh and I have become very good at early morning journeys (no traffic, things will run more smoothly) and also at map reading to keep us off the busier roads.

I haven't done anything I wanted to do yet today I went to get the car and ended up faffing about at work and have only just got home. Now everything seems a bit daunting so I'm struggling to get motivated.
No sun here and the farmers have been muck spreading so my machine full of washing is going to have to be hung to dry in the house.

Going to try to get on with something...back later..

BiancaCastafiore · 02/04/2009 11:58

galen I am sooo with you on the house suffering as the garden improves

scattyspice · 02/04/2009 12:36

Hi all .

Wendy - Huge Sympathies! What a bummer! Hope the GP is helpful.

Bianca - glad you had a good night out . I agree with swan, everyone has some irrational fears, best to be honest about them. I also like to make long journeys in the morning, hate to wait all day (if I am driving).

galen - My house slides badly in nice weather, can't persuade myself to stay inside cleaning (and ironing esp) when its sunny!

EHM - have a nice day before the holidays.

Luda - great to see you again (I am alittle confused as I thought you'd name changed and were someone else ).

I have been up 1/2 night with dd (coughing again).
Dh has a day off to go walking, I am trying to encourage him to get back into some of his pre DC activities as he is becoming increasingly bored (and grumpy)with our child centred lifestyle. I hope I don't regret it .

Today:
no after school activities (thankfully)
laundry
paperwork
dd thank yous
finish watching High School Musical with DC (takes me right back to Fame! LOL).

swanriver · 02/04/2009 13:02

Wendy, at least you went on the hen night! And now you don't have to worry about immunity. You may be better by Easter w/e, hope so anyway.

Fame! I Want To Live Foreeever!
Scatty yes, echo sending dhs on long walks. Dh loves hiking treking but somehow has lost the art and the opportunity.

Bianca sympathy

off to p.school musical now.

Ludaloo · 02/04/2009 13:24

Hi all

scatty oooh sorry to cause confusion
Hope you manage to catch up on some rest today and DD's cough eases

Hi EHM good luck with the shoe buying

Hi bianca hope you manage to get on with something...I have a tip of a house but have managed to avoid any house work completly! Took kids to the dentist, then built a bird table

wendy big sympathy from me re the chicken pox I had them for my 21st B'day!!! Not good!

swan hope the musical goes well....is it Fame by any chance??

galen ooooh what kind of b'day cake are you doing?

Well I have procrastinated for long enough today...and I'm gonna have to go and get the kids from school before you know it!!!!

xx

wendyrednoseredhair · 02/04/2009 13:45

hi all
No appts at GP today not even by phone, they told me to go the the walk in centre . Phoned NHS direct, who said if I can't rule out not being pregnant (which I can't - I could be) then i should visit the doctor. So a trip to the walk in centre later. Feeling rough and spots itchy in the head, only 4 or 5 on rest of the body yet though. But I know the anti virals only work within 24 hrs of rash appearing so best go and see a doctor I think even if it's a waste of time.

DD in bed, DS playing top trumps with DH who has popped home in his lunch hour (bless him). Will struggle through the day with the help of TV I think - I am very tired from little sleep and feeling rough.

BBL

EustaciaVye · 02/04/2009 13:51

wendy - get the antivirals asap. i had pox at 26 and had to have a month off work it was so bad.

wendyrednoseredhair · 02/04/2009 13:54

thanks EV that's helpful

BiancaCastafiore · 02/04/2009 14:07

Hello again

Luda hello!

The sun is finally shining and now I can't go out in the garden as I have decided to tackle the storage drawers under dds bed!
Why oh why do I start these projects?!?! It's bloody awful under there and now I have created an almighty mess out of stuff which was previously packed away neatly out of sight under the bed! Dd has soooo many soft toys it's unbelievable! Why do PiL give dd stuffed animals all the time and how do I stop them?! Still, it's a long overdue job so I'll plod on for the next 40 mins before collecting ds from school, then get out in the garden with him after school
Back later

grouchyoscar · 02/04/2009 14:27

swanriver · 02/04/2009 16:34

Feeling suddenly very frazzled (have been trying to avoid thinking about packing to go on holiday to Eire on Sat tho' dh will still be here till Tues). Don't really have to pack as spare clothes are at my mother's, it's just leaving house in a state other than tiplike.

Poor cousin rang up to remind me she was coming to dinner this eve and I bit the poor woman's head off! Although I do think it's only sensible to remind your hostess at least a day in advance if you insist on inviting yourself 4 weeks in advance...
Rang her back to apologise, it will be fine.

School Musical(Resurrection Rock) lovely, Dh is going this eve and hopefully will sit on right side of theatre thus seeing ds1 in closeup.

Wendy poor you sounds awful.

Bianca hope you escaped from the softtoy dark tunnel. I'm so annoyed by the piles here, but am now just going to wait till they are 9 and then completely abolish them except for three each. Tried to give some away yesterday but defeated by screaming dh and dd.

TheMadHouse · 02/04/2009 16:50

Hello All

I am home, after a nightmare time of things.

I will give you a very brief run down and then I am off to bed.

Friday Am went in to have the stitches removed - I mentioned that I had some increased redness around right wound and they suggested I come back in for IV anti'b and checks. Came home packed bag and went back in.

I was admitted in the afternoon and all of a sudden went from being OK to running a temp in excess of 41 and not very well at all. They struggled to get IV access and ended up getting bloods from groin area and then pinning me down to get arteral bloods.

It was a very scary night and I nearly ended up in ICU. Fluids were going in at a bag an hour. My body was shutting down

Since then I have been up and down really. I have just come off IV anti'b on to oral ones (Which DH has to collect later) and am still draining fluids. I have a stoma bag on the right wound and the left is packed.

I am just so glad to be home and will be going back on monday for some more tests and also the dressings clinic.

All I can say is that it has been a rollercoaster of a week. I am shattered, DH is shattered. They boys have been great, although DS1 has been wetting the bed and DS2 has been playing up.

Thanks for all the thoughts and kind words.

swanriver · 02/04/2009 16:55

I'm so glad you are safe, but what an awful awful week you must have had, and your poor dh too.

BiancaCastafiore · 02/04/2009 17:12

Sounds awful for you all TMH Glad you're home now - hope you can rest up and recover fully this time x x

TheMadHouse · 02/04/2009 17:36

It got better - mum has a massive reaction to some medication and ended up in the same hospital for 3 days too and is just starting to recover too

scattyspice · 02/04/2009 17:54

OMG Mad - what a nightmare! You really didn't sign up for all this did you? Take it very easy now and go straight back to hosp if you feel worse. Good luck .

EHM · 02/04/2009 18:03

oh shit TMH! glad you are home safe & sound. I am sure ds's will be fine once everything settles down. Hope your Mum is ok.Big Hugs to you all.xxxxx

Will be back later catch up on remainder of thread. dd is sneezing & snotting worsened thoughtout day. she is currently playing with sand on living room floor. As she was too cold outside
Nice long bath & early bed for her i think. She keeps telling me she has a cold-bless.

OP posts:
Ludaloo · 02/04/2009 18:15

Oh TMH how awful you are doing a brilliant job keeping so sane through it all! I sincerely hope things improve for you xxxx

Bianca how did the bed cleaning go? I start things like that and then wonder why on earth I did!

I have been out most of today. I made a bird table....which I have to say was a bit hobbled together
DH took one look at it and tried to hide his amusement!! He then appeared this afternoon with a posh feeder hanger he had "knocked up" in his lunch hour.

It is absolutely perfect....he's done a grand job.....

Infact....I might take a pic to show you....my effort and then his lol.....if I could bear the embarresment lol

dylsmum1998 · 02/04/2009 18:18
