Has anyone ever had any problems with furniture from John Lewis?

Our new sideboard and table turned up today, the sideboard is damaged and JL are being a bit awkward about it.

Hope this is int he right place...

Did you check it upon arrival for damage?

Have never had any trouble with JL stuff myself.

How are they being awkward?

Eve4Walle · 30/03/2009 09:38

Yes, it was checked, became obvious as we opened up the box.

JL are saying they need to get someone to come and have a look and they'll call later today or tomorrow...

Sure they'll sort it out then. Lucky you checked it all there and then.

Will be up to them to find out where damage occured and if it was delivery men.

Annoying that you can't use it yet though. They'll prob exchange or refund.

Never had a problem with JL.

We are planning to pretty much refurbish a house using JL later this year from their Solihull store.

Well, they are proving to be a bit rubbish at the moment for us - no call today to say what is happening, so when I rang to chase I just got an assurance somebody would call by 4pm, and that hasn't happened so far...

Was also told they couldn't book another delivery slot so I don't know when my new sideboard ill be delivered and I have someone collecting the old one tomorrow!

All in all, not what I'd expect from JL.

ABetaDad, are you an MP?

I had an annoying moment from JL, with an oven. I had about 3 things delivered (hood, hob and oven) and fortunately asked the delivery guys to unpack.... DS was very small and I was being very feeble.

The back of the oven was completely stoved in (excuse the pun).. like it had been in an car crash, and then had been packed up. Packhaging was unmarked.

They took it back with them, but it was a job to get hte new one delivered.. I ended up going to the nearest store and crying at a customer services lady. That worked, and I got a 50pound voucher too.

Wasn't particularly proud of myself, but in retrospect wonder if my life would have been easier all these years if I'd been more of a girl...

Good luck, and keep kicking them. and then complain again in person.

We bought 2 sofas from them, they didn't match! They were ok about changing one of them, but delivered another one that didn't match. They suggested taking away the one I liked to give me one to match the one I didn't like. Eventually it was sorted out, I did have to persist though. Having said that we bought a computer from them recently and have had no problem with taking it back because it needed to be repaired. Over all we continue to buy from them....well no purchases at the moment!

our JL sofa and armchair are really poor quality .. even considering the fact that they were in the sale.
