Hmm party bags.... I HATE them , but DC LOVE them ....
Personally I think they are a terrible waste of money. Usually full of plastic rubbish that breaks in about 2 mins... and loads of equally rubbish sweeties full of sugar and all sorts. The said my DC (younger ones especially) look forward to the party bags more than the party itself a lot of the time so....
Did go to a party once where the mum had done LOVELY party bags , each named, with a single lovely present that she knew the child would love, but there were very few children there as obviously that would be too ££££ for lots of kids.... BUT if you get a bag with a teddy in to take home I would think that would be much nicer than a party bag IMHO!
bear stuffing sounds fab BTW! Now wondering if my DD would like that for her party.... bet the bears were ££ though...

TheMadHouse · 26/03/2009 13:49

Prof bear is more than enough - give them cake and that is it.

I gave a large blow up bouncy baloon and a flump oh and a bit of cake. I am starting as I mean to go on. They did take home the cakes they decorated though

Swan 3 R's sounds like good discussion to me and yes they are just like dogs my boys

Scatty I am OK about children free afternoon and DH is home and making me lunch and then going to change the bed.

DS1 is a very happy boy that his daddy is home

galen I dont think that DS2 would survive in church and how sweet regarding the shoes

EV Hope the drugs are working and the girls are behaving

galen · 26/03/2009 13:51

oops X posted again! Yes agree Bear in Bag MUCH better than Cr*p in party bag!
Oh and I hate balloons too. Saw a very small child that choked to death on piece of burst balloon when I was a medical student doing paediatrics Hated them ever since. they scare me to death, especially at parties, where the get burst then little kids run round picking up little pieces and putting them in their mouths etc... My kids all think I'm such a kill joy cause I always so no to balloons when we get offerred them out and about 9 you know like inkids clothes shops when they are doing a promotion or something....)

right going now really!

Galen, is that why you chose your name - are you are a doctor in a previous life? Was Galen a medieval doctor? Shouldlookit up uut hands doughy?

TheMadHouse · 26/03/2009 14:30

my two love baloons, although I run as soon as one pops

DH is home, DS2 with MIL and DS1 playing on the PC whilst DH is working on the table on his work laptop.

I am going to retire to my bed now!!!

wendyrednoseredhair · 26/03/2009 14:34

Galen was a Roman physician - had wondered about your choice of the name before, Galen! Well spotted swan
Am v v stressed again - estate agents, solicitors etc suddenly all demanding money like now, without any warning - but we still don't have a definite/official date - so why would we transfer our money when we have no date?! bank is still cocking up the money transfer too - still trying to get it all in one place. Arh!

been to the hospital - DD signed off now on the finger - hurrah!
MIL had DS so DD and I went to meet friends at soft play - lovely as we had a bit longer than usual as I wasn't dashing back for nursery pick up.
But then had to dash to the bank, estate agents etc who had been phoning me, and dash to Lidl to buy juice, fruit, milk etc before dashing back to put dd to bed.
So lots of dashing then.
have read thread but need to go and play with ds who is complaining

grouchyoscar · 26/03/2009 15:15

Mad I read that as 'my two love ballons' Thought we were back on boobwatch

Galen I agree about rubbish partybags too

Best party bags I've done/had had

A little notepad/colouring book
A pencil or crayons
Small box of raisins
a car or tiny teddy or dolly.

The stuff can be picked up from places like wilkinsons and the like. By heck, I'm such a cheapskate

Hello all (I know it's a bit late in the day to be popping in...)

Hello bianca

tmh Hope that you can get better soon. It must be getting you down. You are very positive though so that will no doubt help you get well!

ev sorry to hear you are poorly too. Going to dispense lots of soon if you are both not careful

Oh dear, 200 balloons arrived today for the party - those with allergies should steer clear

Been at work today with dd1 (she is doing work experience with me and has been promised a job if she wants it as soon as she is 16 ). We had a great day - lots of laughing whilst working! Was good for dd1, and for me.

Working tomorrow too, me not dd1. Is dress-down day so it always feels a bit more relaxed on a Friday!

Anyway, have a good day tomorrow everyone

galen · 26/03/2009 20:14

Evening all!

LOL about name choice! yes I was a doctor....in a previous pre DC life....in my dim and distant past LOL
Would love to claim credit for name choice but that was DS1's inspired idea ( he had been reading some sort of history book, he is a total bookworm and just absorbs all sorts of knowledge LOL) I had tried all the usual name choices that were the limit of my creativity these days ( you know like "poppins" etc....!) and all were taken and I was getting annoyed! galen also happens to be an anogram of the letters of some of my name so seemed a good idea LOL Was getting fed up of it actually and thought I needed something more entertaining.....

Anyway...
wendy yay for DD finger
grouchy scatty bianca Hi!
prof Yay for DS, for DD!
mad lots of good ideas on thread - hope you find what you're looking for.

so....
have just got back from parents eve for DD1, DS1 and DD2.
warning Proud Mummy Moment!
Had wonderful reports for all!
DS1 doing fabulously at everything. Predicted level 5's for all his sats, round about yr 7 - 8 level in everyhting (he's in yr6!) and a sensible polite boy! Also said he's doing wonderfully in lead role for Passion Play next week!
DD1 was described as "a star" , teacher said shes a lovely child, thoughtful, hard working and polite. Up at the top of the class in everyhting!
DD2 - told she was a wonderful child, and a credit to us! She is not as academic as other 2, but has apparently made wonderful progress, works hard and they were especially impressed with her general knowledge and skills in science work!
So feeling proud of them tonight! Also feeling relieved as this was their first proper parents eve since going back to school in Sep, and so many people told me how they would suffer so much from being Home educated - I am just glad to have proved them wrong!
Now just need to remember these lovely things next time they are driving me mad LOL

House a bit chaotic... but very tired sooo... plan to do some sorting and mini blessing tomorrow... Also need to bake... but also going swimming with DD4 and DS2....hmmm need a few more hours I think...

Right off to sort lunchboxes that so far only contain a handful of grpes each!
Night all

galen · 26/03/2009 20:16

wendy sorry meant to say about all house move stuff. It is SO stressful isnt it. I hope it all comes together smoothly for you.

gibbberish · 26/03/2009 20:24

That's fantastic galen You must be so proud and rightly so!

Didn't realise you HE'd previously. I HE my four. Not sure they would receive the same type of report if they returned though lol

Wolfcub · 26/03/2009 20:40

evening all

i have been doing bits and bobs but have been madly busy this week not feeling brilliant.

I hope all are well. mad I think the sexy jammies were very nice. You could try la senza dp has bought me some nice jammies from there in the past. Or try m & s for seperate jammie bottoms paired with cami tops from their underwear ranges.

wendy hope the house move stress resolves soon

grouchy hope ds gets on ok at the hospital tomorrow

bianca good to see you

hope eveyone else is ok, sorry didn't have time to read thread at lunch so am not caught up with everyone

bad news today, a good friend has testicular cancer, op tomorrow they think they have caught it early so are hopeful an op will resolve it without need for further treatment.

Simply · 26/03/2009 23:27

Hello to all. I'll only do one individual message and that is to TMH. Ummm, I don't know what to say, though without it sounding wrong. Here goes....I hope you have a much better sleep tonight with much less pain. See you here tomorrow!

Right. I should really go to bed now. Nos da pawb. Good night everyone.
