saw a sofa in half??

i am not joking. We have one on the top floor of our house. Getting it up was well nigh on impossible, since then we have had the walls of the staircase replastered and a beautiful handrail put in. It will simply not go down in once peice without trashing everything. DH is quite enthused at the idea of getting to saw it in half with his friends.....

straightforward? or asking for touble?

p.s. its a cr*p sofa anyway!

i would actually quite like to chop it up into little peices and never see it again. it looks ok, but every time you sit on it, the cushions start this strange slide off onto the floor...irritating. Plus, its on the landing and i am trying to gradually encourage the children to move some of their stuff out of "their playroom" and relocate to the top floor so that we can get our dining room back as a proper dining room.

We had a 20 odd year old sofa and weren't keen to spend £20 to get it collected by the council so DH took the saw to it. Was really easy - took it to the tip in a couple of journeys - no problem!

We did this to an old one - it was great fun! Once you rip the covers off, there's not much real wood in a sofa, so he should be able to get through it no problem. But think about what you're going to do with all the bits before you start....

thanks everyone. Was planning to get it into 2 possibly 3 bits (its a 2 seater) then take all the bits in the car to the skip which should take 2 trips.

then dance around celebrating the extra space before it is filled with yet more cr*p...
