Infestation of bugs... poss ladybirds...????

Last week I noticed a bug in my living room - it's shaped like a ladybird, about half a cm long and has black zig-zaggy stripes on a yellowy background. I've since found a couple more and today I've found about 6. They seem to be mostly around the bay window in my living room, which is double-glazed but draughty. The problem is my flat is full of nooks and crannies - gaps in the floorboards, cracks in the walls etc! There are no plants nearby outside. Does anyone know what these are likely to be and how I can get rid? I have a 3 week old baby and a cat so anything toxic isn't really an option.

Ta!

Some one who knows more than me may come along and correct me, but I think that sounds like carpet beetle - think they look like beige ladybirds. Not as nice or useful though.

Argh! We've got those too then! Luckily i hate the carpet in that room so I'll make sure we get rid post haste! Where have they come from though?

Definitely carpet beetles. They're quite hard to get rid of I think.

I've just googled them and mine aren't carpet beetles. Phew
