Getting the smell of vomit out of a mattress... can anyone help, please?

DD was very ill last night all over me and my bed. I stripped the bed as soon as I could but there is a damp patch on it which reeks of vomit. I've mopped it down but it still honks...

Does anyone out there have any handy hints? Is Febreeze worth a go (ime it only ever masks smells with the smell of Febreeze, but I've not bought it in years...)?

Thanks

Reckon most people are going to say sprinkle bread soda on it and then hoover it off later

Bread soda? Is that Bicarbonate of Soda or something different?

Cheers, will give it a go with Bicarb...

Yeah, sorry it is bicarb

wash it with biological powder then bicarb

I would go with all the other suggestions.

However, ds threw up in the back of the car over the seats (nice) and I did resort to buying some Febreze, partly because we were driving a long distance and still had a long way to go. The Febreze worked brilliantly, and didn't seem to just cover the odour in perfume.

The other good thing is Neutradol carpet powder. Sprinkle on, rub in, and hoover off.

Thank you all so much - I went with the Neutradol in the end as I had it to hand - worked like a charm (I now have a nicely pine-fresh bed!).

Cheers again
