..........washing detergents.

What do you use? Liquid, loose powder or tablets? And why?

It struck me the other day when I was shopping for some detergent, that I did not really know what form I am supposed to use anymore.

Any opinions? (other than that I have an extremely boring life to be discussing this on a Saturday night).

um i use liquid stuff, i didn't like powder as it scummed up the pipes, i had to pull it away in chunks.

All my cleaning products are Lidl. All good and cheap!

I used to use liquid but I've heard from a few washing machine repairers that they only recommend powder.Therefore when I got my new washer last year I reverted to powder.

Persil non-bio tablets.
Like it that I know how much to use, and that I know exactly how many washes I have left.

Tabs, either Persil or Ariel.

Powder gunks up the machine.

Washing machine repair man told me ages ago not to use liquid (something to do with the door seal iirc).

I use Sainsbo's non-bio powder, Sainsbos colour powder, or Persil bio powder depending on what load I'm washing. From a big box. The Sainsbury's one costs £4 something, Persil equivalent is £6 something.

Tablets are ££££££££££££££££££££££££.

I always use concentrated fabric conditioner. ATM my favourite is a lavender one.

powder doesn't clog the machine, cause it clogs the outside pipes.

Well I started with powder, converted to liquid when it came in, but have recently gone back to powder when Tesco stopped selling it own brand liquid. The tablets seem too expensive to my mind. So, if powder is recommended by washing machine repair men, I suppose I am doing the right thing. That's nice to know.

Though you are right SEA, it does often clog in the dispenser.

I use tablets but they arent clearing from the drawer properly so I'm going to get something that goes in the drum next shop.

I use powder - whatever is on offer or the 'own brand' of wherever I'm shopping ... not fussy! I find it only clogs if I put in too much.

Tezzies value non-bio powder at the moment.
I am considering switching to ecover liquid though to see if t helps dd's exzema.
Don't like tablets as they go gunky and don't dissolve when I fill the machine too full sometimes.

powder, I used a Bold liquid once & the wash came out with funny grey smeary type marks all over it. Went out & replaced it with powder, no more funny marks

I use the Surf in the pink box atm cos I like the smell. But that could be subject to change on my next shopping trip depending what I smell then

Ecover liquid/ Tesco equivelent but using half the amount with meeeeeeeeeeega cheap washing soda. This seems to work well. I indulge in a branded softener.....Use only the tiny bit but it makes me feel very happy when I'm hanging up washing.....

powder - is cheaper, and if you give your machine an "empty" hot run every so often it doesn't scum up the pipes

Interesting about liquid and door though...

mine's been leaking...

Have bought some tablets that seemed eco-like but cheap. I am suspicious. They better not ruin my washday fun!
