Which is better for curtain length: to the sill, or below the sill?

floor length, half length always make me think of old peoples homes

emkana · 19/03/2009 22:40

below the sill

floor length on a normal-sized window is a bit odd no?

nancy75 · 19/03/2009 22:41

whats a normal size window? all of mine are to the floor

cece · 19/03/2009 22:41

I like floor length too. Otherwise just below the sill is the least offenisve of the other options.

NotAnOtter · 19/03/2009 22:43

floor floor floor

no debate imvho

ChasingSquirrels · 19/03/2009 22:44

don't you all have rads under the windows - do you just cover them with floor length curtains??

MrsWeasley · 19/03/2009 22:49

I prefer floor length but have radiators under windows so either dont close them or sort of drape them on top of radiator cover.

melpomene · 19/03/2009 22:54

Hmmm. The window in question is in dd1's room and is quite high off the ground (sill is nearly level with my chest). I think floor length would get in the way a bit...

just below the sill, definitely

thumbwitch · 19/03/2009 23:01

depends on the depth the window is inset to, iyswim. My front room window is in a slightly deeper-than-normal embrasure and so sill-length is a must, otherwise they would hang funny.

All others are just below the sill. And long enough to tuck behind the radiator.

Ivykaty44 · 19/03/2009 23:02

lo I thought it said pull!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 20/03/2009 00:21

For a window as you describe, just below the sill - floorlength would look daft, not to mention the waste of money having all the fabric flapping about.

Helium · 20/03/2009 07:51

Just below the sill - then you have room for a chest fo drawers - radiator or whatever - floor length is a bit ott and possibly dangerous too...

ilovesprouts · 20/03/2009 08:00

below the sil

NotAnOtter · 20/03/2009 21:04

fo that style window floor length would be odd

most other windows floor length though
