My son has loads of them from squirty hippos to ducks! the other day he squirted a hippo and out came some green slime type stuff. Rather horrid and I rushed off to be sick(pregnant). So how do I clean them? or do I bin them and start over?

Every now and then I'll fill and squirt them several times with a bleach solution (rinse them afterwards) but when they get particularly bad I bin them.

Soak in mixture of bleach and boiling water for about 4 hours, fill and squirt the ones that can do that, and rinse well

And try to remember to empty them after every bath time

Soak the toys in a solution of half water, half white vinegar. Leave for a couple of hours. Rinse them well under a tap afterwards. Gets rid of gunk and limescale, toys look new again. And its cheap and eco friendly and non-toxic.

Soak in sterilising solution.

Will some go in the dishwasher if you have one?

Geepers · 18/03/2009 15:57

I wash ours in the dishwasher once a week, and soak in Milton for a day about once a month. They seem fine and haven't gone mouldy at all.

I fill the bath with v hot water and add some bleach and let them soak overnight now and then. I like the vinegar tip. Will try thanks
