I?m trying to do my front from but am seriously design challenged - what colour/colours would you put with an oak floor and large dark brown leather furniture - have tried red but its too dark for the room and have tired lime green but husband says it looks like a jungle and not cosy enough

How about a warm, yellowy cream? Not a strong yellow, but something with a bit more colour than plain cream.

We have just painted our living room in cream with a dusky blue/green/grey (trust me it's nice!) colour on one wall. It's crowns antique cream and boutique. The antique cream is a warm neutral colour which works really well in any room

Agree with seeline. My Mum and Dad have a room just as you describe but the yellow is quite strong not just creamy. Its an old house with lowish ceilings with dark oak beams and furniture.
