hunnybun1981 · 15/03/2009 13:44

every time i get something done it just seems like it gets as bad within 2/3 days again.

my dining room is like a chinese laundry clothes r everywhere i wash hang them out or dry them, then they sit until i need something.

i am going to work now until ten pm, and i just feel like i can never get anything done

i have about 3 /4 hrs spare tomorrow and i need to start somewhere again , i get so depressed when my house is like this.

looks like a toy shop as well even though i take all the toys away again the kids just bring them down.

i have a sn daughter sometimes she just takes a lot of my time and if i am not working i am doing the usual mum stuff.

i need a routing , really need some more cheap storage ideas so i could put things away.

please someone help

off to work but will reply tonight

x

Hiya hunnybun.

What is your routine at the moment?

Are there things you do every day, weekly, as and when?

onepieceofcremeegg · 15/03/2009 21:04

Have you had a really thorough, ruthless declutter?

I have minimal ornaments etc which massively reduces dusting/cleaning.

Wash clothes every day if necessary to keep on top of laundry. Sort out drawers/wardrobes to ensure that you have places to put the clean clothes.

blossomsmine · 15/03/2009 21:13

I am the same i suppose As alreay mentioned, i think really ruthless decluttering helps, but you have to keep doing it, say every month.... I did a big declutter recently, still need to do more though
Also, the washing/ironing is a problem here aswell, the only time i got on top of it was when i did a couple of washes a day and then ironed it each day/evening....but i seem to have got out of that habit abit lately.
Everyday i have a quick tidy and clean round which stops it looking too bad but then the plan is that each day i spend an hour or two doing something a little more involved, like sorting out a dumping area or emptying a few cupboards. I suppose if you keep on like that eventually it will get better but is a case of doing it religiously!!
Changing the subject, where do you work in the evenings by the way?!

onepieceofcremeegg · 15/03/2009 21:19

Re ironing iron virtually nothing only essential things.

noonki · 15/03/2009 21:34

completely agree with the declutter - do it room by room bit at a time.

get a home for everything =- it makes such a difference

for toys we bought plastic boxes and shoe boxes and only get down a box at a time, they have to put away the first box before another one gets out. - it really changed our mess.

Also it means all the toy sets are together so you dont spend ages sorting it out and then they play much better with teh stuff as they see it.

good luck

blossomsmine · 15/03/2009 21:40

Thats true about the ironing, i usually (stupidly) iron more or less everything. I have a great big pile in my room ready to go through. I have just quickly sorted though it and folded and put away everything that i can get away with not ironing and now i only have a little pile

I try and put the dishwasher on quite abit before i go to bed so that it can be emptied at night and is ready to go again in the morning.

I also try and keep the kitchen bin emptied....there is nothing worse than a stinky, over filling kitchen bin!

Have you got a shoe rack and somewhere to hang up coats and school bags? That always helps to make the place look abit tidier!

hunnybun1981 · 15/03/2009 22:50

twigsblaket

my routine at the minute is

up 7.00
shower and dress me and eldest, take to school bus at 8
home 8.20
feed youngest, chill out get brekkie etc
shower/bath youngest
9.30 leave for gym/ take youngest to creche
shop on way home
back home about 12
do lunch, make beds do dishes general tidy up
eldest home from school at 2.30 make her snack etc
make dinner and leave for work at 4
home from work ar eleven.

my other half does long shifts but he helps a lot when i am working and he is off.

blossomsmine, i have a stinky over full bin at the min, only bcus i couldnt find my clack bags and have no room i main main.

i have no room for a dishwasher (RENTED ACCOMODATION blast them)

i iron as i need it but usually hand clothes once dried and then iron each day i know its madness

...........and i went to the shop and have just realised i have forgotten the bags again!!!!

Evening job in a bank? That sounds interesting!! I only ask cos i am madly trying to find an evening job

I have been so unbelievably lazy round the house today, i thought i had all day off tomorrow to do housework but had a call to go into work tomorrow, so have wasted today!!

A couple of things I find really help are 'to-do' lists - and doing things in 5 or 10 minute bursts. So rather than get bogged down in a tedious task and slowing down, do a quick burst of it for 5 minutes ie: fold some laundry, then another 5 minutes of something else like washing dishes - I find I get so much more done that way.

BEAUTlFUL · 17/03/2009 09:24

You don't have much time to do stuff. Do you go out EVERY morning? I tend to spend Monday mornings having a blitz -- doing bathroom, changing sheets, dusting/Hoovering downstairs, etc. Then it's just a keeping-up job the rest of the week.

did you read the tip (on MN!) about sorting your clothes into outfits in the wardrobe? That might save you time. And do one long ironing session in front of the TV if poss.

BEAUTlFUL · 17/03/2009 09:26

oh, and what's in your wardrobe if you keep the clothes you most often wear in the dining room? My guess is that your wardrobe is full of stuff you hardly ever actually put on! Keep the special-occasion clothes (say in a storage box under the bed), ditch the rest and get in the habit of putting clothes away as soon as they're dry.

hunnybun1981 · 17/03/2009 21:58

thanks for tips beautiful

i would go out maybe 3/4 mornings a week.

its gets my wee one out with others in the creche i have cleared out a load of kids clothes today ready for friends wee one, i need to buy more storage boxes i think.

i have always ironed every morning so be hard to get out of the habit generally when child is in bath /shower i iron on the landing lol habits die hard.

i dont have many clothes in my wardrobe most r in washing pile clean/dirty or ironing pile.
