There is a rabid badger in our loft. . . .

Ok, so probably not a badger, but something is doing an awful lot of scraping and digging. Sounds definitely too big to be mice, and wouldn't have even thought a rat could make that much noise.

Called the council's pest control, who put out rat poison. He said 'we don't deal with squirrels, so I'm going to say it's a rat. . .but this stuff will kill squirrels too' and winked.

It's been two weeks, and no improvement. Only happens on one side of the house in the first floor spare bedroom, and I can also hear something that sounds like it's inside the cooker hood (same side of house). Could it be in the outside wall as well?

Am really starting to think it is squirrels....how do you get rid of them? Can't even see how they'd get in!

help!

It might be a mouse. They can make a hell of a racket even though they're small. I think it's Rentokill, I'm afraid.

Birds getting in to nest?

I had squirrels in my loft .. we poisoned some of them (hate to admit it) and then made sure we closed up all of the small holes and entry points. That said, they moved into my neighbours loft and ate through her water tank which then flooded her whole house

Bats make a right din when they start shuffling about.

right - prob is squirrels. they make a racket and can gnaw through electrical cables so need to get rid. Try and find where they are getting in - we had a hole in the weatherboarding just under the roof. Then you need to make sure they are out by scaring them with noise (bang the ceilings and knock on the walls -we also squirted toiet duck near the hole to stop more coming in but dont know if that worked or not, then block up the hole. You can get sonic scaring devices that are supposed to emit a high pitched noise that keeps them away but if i recall correctly they have mixed reviews.

Our rats are loud - they seem to have left at the moment but we use the sonic scarers and are pleased.

srm is right .. I forgot we used a sonic device to keep them away as well!
