Can anyone recommend a good toaster?

Ours has finally conked out after 13/14 years and we would like to replace it with one that takes taller slices of bread. We could get a long 4-slice toaster, but does anyone have a 2-slice toaster which can take the bakery-type slices (from our breadmaker - we're fed up with having to turn them over halfway through, and the middle getting burnt while the top and bottom are barely toasted)?

Or are there any we should avoid?

Hello. This thread is a little old now and some of the recommendations may be out of date. Take a look at our round-up of the best toasters - according to Mumsnetters - for more up-to-date suggestions. MNHQ.

delonghi - cheaper than dualit....if Id had more dosh at the time I'd have plumped for dualit. It's a 4 slicer though

Thanks for the suggestions. I think the Dualit is a bit out of our price range though (for the decent ones anyway, the lite ones don't seem to get very good reviews). Oliviasmama - would the delonghi take larger (taller) slices?
