I'm not sure how or when - but the evidence is on my profile . WARNING - may shock some more "house proud" MNers eye

I'm about to have a roll-up and then tackle it - whatever happens I'm stopping for the night at 12.30 so I can go and bath and then sleep and wake up to a much more pleasant looking home................

I need you lovely MNers to keep me company when I pop back for my fag breaks (no WAY can I do the whole thing with a few of those ).

lisad123 · 05/03/2009 21:48

wow how many kids did you have playing at yours today? LOL

Lmccrean · 05/03/2009 21:59

FAQ - wish i had taken pics of my place at 5pm to show you, and you wouldnt feel so bad! Took me 2.5 hours to do kitchen (13 month old mindee insisting on feeding himself then chucking soup bowl across the room...content flew everywhere inc into the box of megablocks, and 2 6 year olds baking fairy cakes...) Playroom was sorted by getting a aundry basket and dumping everything in it and hide it. If mindees asks for anything thas in it, Ill tell them the tidy fairy took them away and wont bring them back til they can show they can tidy up when they finish with something. Will def work as one of the toys is the cranium superfort which they LOVE

Lilyloo · 05/03/2009 22:03

FAQ looks like a busy day
and an even busier night take it the culprits are in bed

namechangecosfeelingsad · 05/03/2009 22:03

FAQ, I admire your honesty! My house regularly looks like this, and to be truthful, the only time it doesn't is when someone is coming round #

It's OK though, nothing looks unhygenic or gross - it just needs a rather good tidy - good luck!!

JackBauer · 05/03/2009 22:05

I don't think it's that bad
A house with lively kids in shouldn't look neat, I always worry about my friends with spotless/clutter free houses.

BUT, what is that bug eyed fish tent thing? that's very weird!

Shitemum · 05/03/2009 22:11

Good god woman, stop wasting time taking pics of the mess and get tidying!

{sits amongst dirty plates, unfolded washing and sundry toys...}

Starbear · 05/03/2009 22:12

Please post the after pictures then I can see what can be done in such a small bit of time. To tell you the truth I would get two black bin bags. One Rubbish the other will sort out later. Grab every offending article and shove in bag not even find the right place for them. Then Shove one in the bin the other in a cupboard. I'll be surprised if you need anything in there again! Good luck.

Shitemum · 05/03/2009 22:16

You know what? We should have a whole thread where people post pics of their slovenly hovels untidy homes on their profiles and have a prize for the worst!

I don't have a profile and don't know how to post pics so you'll just have to imagine mine

JackBauer · 05/03/2009 22:35

Shitemum, I could just posta pic of when DH does his SAHD thing for 8 hours. Last time I couldn't get across the room for the crap all over the floor!

Starbear · 05/03/2009 22:35

I will just post pic's of inside of cupboards as that's how I deal with life. Please don't ask me to find cameras, various bags, toys, umbrellas, Sewing stuff, jars of pickle and cleaning products (I don't use them I just buy them ha ha) & any paper work. It would be funny

FAQinglovely · 05/03/2009 22:42

ok - back for my first break.

it was 3 children playing in there........from 4pm.......before that I was out all afternoon and DS3 this morning.........no it hadn't been tidied yesterday either

JackBauer · 05/03/2009 22:43

Ah, my house is clutterkingdom BUT I know where everything is.
Dh never fails to be amused when he asks me to find something and I burrow under a teetering pile of crap to pull out whatever it is he can't find!

FAQinglovely · 05/03/2009 22:45

first 2 "after" photos are up

BRAVO BRAVO

Starbear · 05/03/2009 22:52

I was going to post a poem about housework and walking in the woods instead...... BUT I'VE lost it in the house some where

FAQinglovely · 05/03/2009 22:52

I even tidied the shoe rack which is hidden behind the big curtain in the dining room .

Floor still needs mopping in there -but I'll leave that until tomorrow night

It's this end of the living room I'm tackling next - definitely going to be the worst bit I think

Found it (I posted on MN last year)
I TOOK HIS HAND
My dishes went unwashed today,
I didn't make the bed.
I took his hand and followed.
Where eager footsteps led.

Oh yes, we went adventuring
My little son and I.
Exploring all the great outdoors
Beneath the summer sky

We waded throught the crystal stream
We wandered through a wood
My Kitchen wasn't swept today
But life was bright and good.

We watched a robin feed her young
We climbed a sunlit hill,
Saw cloud sheep scamper throught the sky
We plucked a daffodil.

That my house was neglected
That I didn't brush the stairs.
In Twenty years no-one on earth
will know or even care.

BUT that I've helped my little son To noble manhood grow In twenty years and whole wide world May look, and see, and know.

Unknown author..

It always brings a tear to my eye..

insanemumma · 06/03/2009 06:47

That poem is so good and so true - who cares if the housework doesn't ge done!

Faq you did a great job I feel inspired to tackle all my mess ready for the weekend - well maybe!

FAQinglovely · 06/03/2009 07:53

yea seen that poem before - however, when yo have a party at your house in a weeks time, and STILL have a lot of stuff to finish unpacking from a house move over a month ago - well then you kind of need/want to get it done

BandMeeting · 06/03/2009 07:59

Mine is much worse.

Not seen that poem before, but have always loved this one

I hope my children will look back on today
And see a mother who had time to play.
There will be years for cleaning and cooking
But children grow up while we're not looking.
Dusting and scrubbing can wait 'till tomorrow
For babies grow fast we learn to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs and dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
