Washing a wool cardigan

So I bought this lovley cardigan just after Christmas but didn't realise it said hand wash only. So I wore it a few times and since then it's been sat in the bottom of my laundry basket because I hate doing hand washing!

It's 50% lambswool, 35% viscose and 15% nylon.

Would be be ok in the machine on a wool cycle or a cold wash or a delicates cycle do you think?

i think anything with wool in it should be fine on a wool cycle as they are at 30o - check definitely 30o though becasue I washed a wool jumper yesterday that has been on wool wash loads of times with no problem but the temperature know had been nudged to 40o and it came out half the size! I am surprised such a small temp difference matters but it clearly does!

I have wasjed 100% wool things at 30o on wool wash with no problems even if said dry clean only.

Try washing it with pure soap flakes in barely warm water. Let it steep for a while then rinse it through gently. Don't scrub at it in case the wool felts a bit.
It has a fairly high man made content so should not felt easily.
Drip dry with a clothes hanger in it over the bath or outside. Press on medium heat.

Oh, my woolcycle say 40o, so I'll avoid that one!

Think I'll give it a go on a cold wash and see what happens!

Fingers crossed!

It is a bit of a faff but if you mix together a box of soap flakes with a bottle of eucalyptus oil (store it in a jar) then add a soup spoonful to your woollens when washing them - it makes a lovely job, smells lovely and keeps the moths away.

It seems to have survived! Too wet to try on yet but it doesn't appear to have shrunk and it smells much fresher
