A makeshift vase?

Somebody has given me a beautiful bunch of roses and I quite literally can't find anything to use as a makeshift vase.

They are currently in the bathroom basin.

(I don't have a vase because I've recently 'started again'.)

Help Mumsnet. Point out the obvious to me. Surely there must be something in my house that would do as a vase?

Storage or utensil jar?

Uriel · 25/02/2009 09:06

Failing that, a quick nip to Wilko's?

shelleylou · 25/02/2009 09:11

I know someone who used her wellies on one occasion.

VintageGardenia · 25/02/2009 09:25

Loo brush holder of course I'm sure you don't have something so grimy .

NorbertDentressangle · 25/02/2009 09:27

Could you create one of those cellophane water-filled type bags that you can buy flowers in (although don't ask me how they do it )

Lawks · 25/02/2009 09:33

lol @ wellies.

And no no no no no to suggestions.

Have been through cupboards in case I could empty out the contents of a big jar or something, but no big jars.

They're in the nappy bucket for now. They don't look very pretty in it!

Will investigate garden.

chop stems off and float em in a bowl?

VintageGardenia · 25/02/2009 09:45

If you have a garden, fill pot with soil or compost and stick stems in, oasis-style!

I found an old coffee jar outside. Looks lovely!
