is it a really big job to have a new carpet fitted?

we have a small to medium sized lounge/dining room and thinking of having it recarpeted as it really needs it, but we dont have any other rooms downstairs (we do have a conservatory) so where will all our sofas and cabinets etc go? can they recarpet without taking all the furniture out and just move it around? like i say there isnt that much space.

Also how long would it take, would they do it in a day do you reckon?

im just worried that its going to mean basically moving all our stuff out downstairs and be a really big hassle?

I think they could probably work around some furniture but move as much as you can really. An empty room should take about an hour to re - carpet

well we could probably get some of the bulky furniture into the conservatory and if it could be all done with in a day i think i could cope with that, i do get a bit worked up by things like this though!

I couldnt move the wardrobe out of ds's bedroom when they re-carpeted and they just did half the room, then moved it themselves to the other half to do the rest. You'll find most of them are pretty good.

One room shouldnt take more than an hour or so

They really should be able to do it in a couple of hours at most. It's only one room. Move the bulky stuff the night before and arrange for them to come first thing and you should be back to normal by lunchtime

good thinking - i really would love to get it done - have been putting it off for too long

My top tip for getting the best out of any tradesman is to offer a cup of tea the moment they get there. They WILL appreciate it.

We've just had lounge recarpeted. No problem. We did move 3 piece suite into dining room, but they helped actually. It was all done in under 2 hours.... it was half term too so there were 6 kids round the place - not stressful really.

it's quite easy to do it yourself
