Dump all the "stuff" from my kitchen worktop on my bed?

50% will be rubbish
40% will need filing upstairs anyway

I might actually get it sorted...alternative I may end up sleeping on the sofa

Ditto for teh crap on the bottom of my stairs

I do this kind of stuff occasionally, and consequently I have boxes of junk piling up in my bedroom.

My advice is only to disturb as much as you know you can put away in one cleaning session.

Flylady has a good thing called 15? Thing Fling - where you chuck out anything you don't want in a random sort of way, but you stop when you have reached the magic number.

Spend only one hour on it and do a little everyday!Maybe? I have the same problem I'm here instead

Flamesparrow · 22/02/2009 10:35

You WILL end up with a bed of crap that you fling on the floor when you remember it tonight.

SlightlyMadScotland · 22/02/2009 10:53

I work so an hour every day is a bit of a problem.

Stairs is sorted...I sent DTDs up to do that and there is about 6 things on my bed to sort. The rest of it belonged in their bedroom anyway. I suspect it now has a new home on their bedroom floor

Don't do it. Get a large plastic bag and at least separate the stuff you have to keep from what has to be chucked. Put the rubbish in the bag and put the rest in a neat pile, at least it will then look manageable.

Flamesparrow · 22/02/2009 11:07

An hour in one go is normally too much imo anyway. 20 mins on, 20 mins off means I get more done

SlightlyMadScotland · 22/02/2009 11:09

Does that mean I can do 20 mins tidying; 20mins MN ?

Fine if you are going to change the bed afterwards.

I have a bag or basket to bump everything in that needs to go upstairs and take it up at the end of the day.

Flame, that is what I do I have a kitchen timer which I set and it goes on beeping until I switch it off, so I have to get up and do it, which means I get on with the next bit of 20 minutes Flying.

Flamesparrow · 22/02/2009 11:18

I tend to 20 mins with my book

SlightlyMadScotland · 22/02/2009 11:28

I don't have a kitchen timer

Actually I am working through the kitchen pile in situ. Unfortunately it means that my "bottom of the stairs pile is reappearing" as I dump stuff to go up there

I'm going out now to get a kitchen timer. I need it when I'm over an hour on MN still in my dressing gown, no breakfast and Ds watching telly must control my habit! BACK on now instead of going to the library!
