knee patches - anywhere still sell them?

When I was little you could buy Mr Men patches for when you'd made holes in the knees of your trousers...
Ds1 has now made holes in the right knee of 5 pairs of trousers. Must have very pointy right knee.
Tried iron-on mending tape but it came off after a couple of washes, so I have resigned myself to a tedious evening's sewing.
Just wondered if there were any alternatives to cutting up an old pair of jeans he has completely mashed.

I think I saw some girly ones in H&M recently but don't know if they do more boyish ones too...

You can get them from haberdashery shops/stalls/departments. There are some here too, I like the snail and the tortoise:

C&H fabrics if you don't have a small local independent haberdashery you could support

there are cute ones. I like the tortoise, too.
I think maybe steel plates might be more appropriate, though...
only 1 pair left intact now.
