Hoover recommendations please!

Hi,

Am sick of my Dyson 08 as it seems to barely cope with visible bits of fluff, let alone anything else.

I would like a really compact hoover - don't really mind if t is a bit heavy as long as it is quite small and easy to store! And powerful. Sone has allergies so ideally something with a HEPA filter...

My mum has a Dyson pod (I think that is what it is called) that she seems to love.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

I predict 87 posts saying "Miele Cat and Dog!" and 79 posts saying "Henry", plus 4 posts saying "Dyson are OK" and another 238 posts saying "Dyson are crap!"

I'm in the Henry camp.

ok i will say the miele cat and dog - evne though it is predictable - its bloody good - and you dont even have to h ave a cat or a dog

AMumInScotland · 19/02/2009 10:14

I'll be one of the 87 for the Miele Cat & Dog, though if what you actually have in your house is long-haired people you do have to cut the tangled hair off the brushes regularly...

Ok - I saw EXACTLY these recommendations on a post dated 2005 and didn't know how to search for a more up to date thread! Feel free to point me to an existing thread if there is one...Thanks...

Miele. Cat and Dog or Revolution.

My dyson is great! got it three years ago now despite everyone telling me then how unreliable they were. Its the pet hair one and picks up everything. only draw back is it is very heavy to carry upstairs, would probably get the cylinder version next time. My mum has a dog and she swears by her Henry.

MrsMerryHenry · 20/02/2009 14:21

It depends on what kind of floors you have. Carpet: get an upright. Hard: get a barrel one (whatever they're called). Uprights have low, rotating brushes to sweep the carpet, but will scratch your floors.

I've a secret desire for our hoover to break down so I can get a Miele. I really need to get out more...

Concepta · 20/02/2009 21:42

I got a Nilfisk for a wedding present and I think it is great - better than any other one that I've ever used.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 20/02/2009 21:45

I'll be one of the four for Dyson. But the Dyson animal not the 08.

Though like MrsHenry I am also harbouring a secret desire for a hoover breakdown so I can try out the Miele.

Only so I can test out which is actually best you see

CarGirl · 20/02/2009 21:45

Def miele, they do all the special stuff for your allergies. I had an original revolution but have replaced it with the red pearl that is on offer with a free 5 year guarantee - about £160 if you look on line. Hardly have any carpet anymore!
