zip slider came right off my son's winter coat, how to get it back on?

DS has nice warm winter coat, cost 50 pounds so don't want to chuck it. DH pulled too hard trying to do it up and the slider bit came right off the top. so the zip isn't damaged at all, just has no 'zipper' bit on it to do it up.

Does anyone know how I can get it back on?

any tips much appreciated!

Try feeding it on from the top or levering it onto the teeth just below the end. I had to do this with dd's school coat when hers "came off" and got lost , replacing it from another broken one.

Doesn't sound fit for purpose Gem. I'd try and return it personally, a coat designed for a child should be made of sterner stuff than that!!

thanks to both! DH has managed to mend it by just forcing it back on the top. TBH it has not been good value because one of the poppers attaching the hood came off almost immediately, it's a MEXX coat, really nice and warm and 50 quid!! (only a coat for a 2 year old!). I would not recommend the quality, but the material is so nice and it's down filled and quite waterproof.
