Dining chairs awful and need to recover or something?

My dining chairs are black leather, quite a small back and black metal frame, not very nice but cant afford new ones at the mo. Was wondering how I can recover them, any ideas? The back piece is seperate from the bottom seat piece so was thinking of covering just the back piece. I have an oldish wipe clean table cloth, cream with big red flowers I was thinking of cutting up to cover the backs, what you think? Also can I paint metal and what with?

You can paint the metal with enamel paint. Recovering the leather is quite easy, just cut the material to size and glue it on. Bear in mind this is permanent though so be careful how you do it
