Hi Guys,

I'm new here, this is my first post so be gentle with me

I need abit of advice if poss please. I installed a new bathroom just over 2 years ago and it's tiled from floor to ceiling all the way round.

The problem is with the grout and seal around the bath & shower... it's going orange... what is it and what can I do to get rid?

Thanks

G x

sounds like a bit of limescale to me. try limelite. works very well here

bellavita · 16/02/2009 11:53

Oh yes, I second limelite

littleboyblue · 16/02/2009 11:53

I use bleach on a toothbrush, a gentle scrub once a month keeps ours nice and clean. Takes an age though!

Bigchops · 16/02/2009 11:56

Thanks everyone, i've tried bleach already but didn't come off.... shall I try harder?

Think I have some limelight somewhere... didn't think limescale was orange though

no i didn't think so either. so it might not be strictly limescale but i did notice the buildup in my shower / around the bath and limelite sorts it out.

It could be that the grout was not sealed properly when the tiling was done and the plaster is now damp behind the tiles, causing the plaster to leak through. Perhaps get a trusted builder to have a look or post a question on a DIY forum eg. www.diynot.com

Was just thinking the same s pickles. Orange maybe plaster, pink is bacteria

Iron in the water turns things orange near us.

HeadFairy · 16/02/2009 17:08

the reason the grout has turned orange is because chemicals in shampoo and conditioner turn orange over time. I've found a good scrub with bleach usually does help, you might need to use a bit more elbow grease.

Thanks for all the replies... will let you know how I get on, think I'll try the bleach then limelite if no joy
