Sorry was absent yesterday - hectic Friday as usual

Grouchy If that's your decision on the course that's fine - you need to go with your instinct about the opportunity. It would take me about a couple of hours to write your personal statement if i came round to your house and chatted to you about you and what you have done etc then sat down and wrote with you. I can do this anytime you like. Similarly if you need some help blitzing the house I can come round we can Fly to some indie kid music since you only live round the corner!

You lot got me reminiscing about my indie queen days the other night, I had all my old stuff out from the union when I was in charge, tickets, signed posters etc - it was great. Unfortunately I have none of the CDs I collected (over 1000) whilst at university, all the obscure bands I went to see whilst there, as we were burgled in 1998 and they took the lot! (Uninsured too!)

Mad The first month my DS had his glasses we had one pair lost, one pair the lens missing, one pair lenses scratched so he couldn't even see out, one pair an arm broken off and the last pair snapped in two on the bridge! Five pairs in a month. The opticians were lovely and said it showed at least he was wearing them but it was a real pain in the bum all the constant trips to the opticians! It settled down after that. We go to Specsavers as they replace or repair children's glasses free of charge

Hello everyone else, BBL, busy day today unfortunately

Morning all. Apologies for hardly being here the past couple of weeks. Would like to say it's because I'm living such an exciting and glamorous life but that is sadly not the case.

Have been catching up with kitchen cleaning and it now looks quite good again but rest of house is less impressive. Will have a quick whip round with the vac later and hope my friend doesn't look too closely at the carpets when she comes over for coffee

Wolf Hope you feel better after the tea and pills
wendy Thanks for the thread. Have a good busy day.

galen · 14/02/2009 09:59

Morning all
wnedy thanks for thread, hope your busy day goes smoothly and about your burglary and all your CD's
wolf sorry to hear about your cold. The last thing you need just now by the sound of it. take it easy today if you can - hope youre soon feeling better.
IV glad your kitchen's looking good - well done! Enjoy coffee with friend.
mad DS1 got through sooo many pairs of glasses when he was younger! You will def get to know the opticians well. We always got ours fixed or replaced free of charge - think all opticians do that. Eventually I managed to pursuade opticians to give us 2 pairs so he had a spare while one pair for when the first pair broke!

Not sure what we're doing today.... had a lie in so a late start here now catching up - I love lie ins but always get up to such chaos....sigh...

DS1 gone bag packing on scout fundraiser at M&S LOL
DS2 napping
DD4 in worst mood ever!

Will see how day progresses...am cooking nice meal for me and Dh tonight....have made tacky heart shape valentine cake LOL

See you all later. Have a good Saturday all!

galen · 14/02/2009 09:59

oh and mad keep forgetting to say your DS looks super cute in his glasses!

TheMadHouse · 14/02/2009 10:09

Hi Ladies

Thanks for all the tips regarding DS2 and his specs. The opticians will repare or reaplce free of charge and he will get another pair free in 3 months time, so we will have two pairs then. He is only 2 and a half, so what do you expect.

I have had a lovley valentines lie in and got a fab boquet of flowers from all my boys.

We had one of those nights though - musical beds again

Hope everyone has a good valentines - we are M&S'ing too Rubes Wendy Seems lots of us fly ladies were indie kids.

Anyway we are having a relaxing moochy kmind of day - so catch you later

wendyredredrobin · 14/02/2009 10:27

Back again, still not dressed but showered now. Am in a grumpy mood though. DH has gone off to help my Dad with a fridge he has bought - poor DH didn't want to at all and my Dad only phoned at 11 last night to request help lifting it - but you can't say no to your parents after all they do for you, can you! So I am left with the two BRATS this morning (they are very grumpy too, think they are fed up still in their PJs and not doing anything exciting yet, Mummy still in her dressing gown!). my own fault, no spaces left at yoga by the time I phoned, so no exercise again today. I am feeling very fat and frumpy lately.

HO hum. will bbl in a better mood

A quick Howdydoo to all

I'm a bit sleep starved and I keep needing to have a nap Ed is wiiing, DH is rugby watching in his office so I've

Made a batch of crazy cho choc chip cookies
Cleaned ther kitchen worksurfaces
Cleaned the hob
Emptied DW
Put away
Shine sink
Emptied WM and sort for drying
Take up and hang to dry
Bring down damp washing Load TD and run
Swept the kitchen
Mopped the kitchen
Mopped front room
Mopped bathroom

And I'm tired again. I may as well not be here. DH won't notice and Ed is absorbed in the wii. I might pop to bed again

Hang on Ed's mate has popped round, I better supervise ttfn

TheMadHouse · 14/02/2009 16:30

We have bought a massive bed and it comes on Thursday - woohoo

scattyspice · 14/02/2009 16:32

Hi all.

Shanna - don't worry about your ds. My ds was a really fussy eater. He couldn't seem to eat more than a few mouthfuls at a time, so he lived off snacks really. There is nothing you can do (you can't force them to eat). I would try and find healthyish snacks and let him eat little and often. He is much better now, but still a bit fussy, he won't eat anything 'mixed up' ie if we have spag bol he has spagetti with the mince on one side .

Wolf - my dd will do anything for the girls at nursery but nothing for me. Even ds has more success with her than i do lol.

Have been out for a walk, getting warmer .

dylsmum1998 · 14/02/2009 17:55

evening all. we have had a lovely family saturday. i took dc to the cinema- dd's first trip that she will rememeber (she went as an under 1 but not since.
she oved it. i was very impressed we saw madagascar 2 which i didnt know was the family film so it was only £9 for the three of us and the dc had a drink, popcorn, sweet and a stationary set each included in that. very impressed with that.
then we had lunch in pizza hut which was yummy, sadly not as cheap as cinema but yummy all the same. we then went for a walk fed the ducks and went on a bear hunt
came home plastered in mud but had fun.
now all showered tea eaten.
ds cleaning his hamster and i have just sorted through paperwork on the desk. so desk is looking much tidier.
really need to finish the kitchen this weekend it desperately needs some attention

mad thats good that replacements and repairs are free, and the 2nd pair soon too.

hope everyone else is enjoying their day

have a lovely romantic evening flybabes I will see you tomorrow.

EustaciaVye · 14/02/2009 20:11

Hi All.

Mad - I'm tempted by a king size. Where have you ordered yours? Oh, and my DD kept her glasses on for everything except swimming and trampolining.

DH forgot to get me a card so sneaked out this afternoon to get one. He's at work now.

EustaciaVye · 14/02/2009 20:12

But I did get a lie in this morning and he cleaned the kitchen too

Wolfcub · 14/02/2009 20:17

ev (just to butt in on the question you asked mad) the king size we bought at christmas was from DREAMS with one of their own magnificent 7 mattresses, it is honestly the best bed I have ever slept on and it didn't cost the earth (helped by being half price in sale).

TheMadHouse · 14/02/2009 21:04

We got it from a local bed centre in the end, it was in the sale (an over order and was an unbelieveable bargain) £700 divan - super kingsize, 4 storage draws with..... wait for it............... a propper memory foam matress

I am unbelieveably happy about it.

Just ordered an oak headboard on tiniternet for £84 (same one was £250) in the shop. We have white brushed cotton bedding from Dunelm Mill. So all in all a great day. I need to find another bedding set - ideally greenish. We have sage walls in the bedroom.

We too were an M&S couple allthough it ended in a threesome - no not that type you dirty minded Fly babes. DS1 came down and ate most of my steak, all my chips and some of my rose too it was lovley and now he is tucked up in bed and looking forward to the cinema with DH tomorrow to see bolt - Dyls Local Indi - half the price of the chains and much nicer.

EV We dont so cards on valentines, but I did get flowers.

Jas · 14/02/2009 21:18

Evening

@ new bed. I have a nice mattress for my bed....the bed is in the loft, and the mattress is propped up in dd2s room

Takeaway curry for us tonight My choice.

I think all childrens glasses are repaired free (assuming you get nhs ones) DD1 has had phases of getting through them, but now she is a bit older I will consider letting her chose some (cheap) private frames.
Your ds looks great in his, as everyone else has already said TMH

I wear my glasses for swimming (I do the old-lady-breaststroke)

Another retired Indie/goth signing off after no FLYing at all (again)

SirCharlieStinkySocks · 14/02/2009 21:29

Hello to anyone who remembers me!!!

Sorry have been lurking for a while but work is chaos at the moment so flying has taken a serious backseat but will kick arse into gear for next week (promise!!)

Anyway just wanted to get a message to Grouchy I'm a university lecturer for my sins and would be more than happy to give any advice on application forms/personal statements etc if it'd help???

Right off to have a bath and sink unceremoniously into a bottle of wine

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 14/02/2009 22:13

evening all
we too are M&S flyers in this house tonight.
got into a bit of bother with DH this morning because I went shopping with a friend at 8.30am so we could be back by 10.30am so DH could have the car, and the first time I looked at my watch it was noon

we were having so much fun - we stayed out for lunch and got back at 2pm - well I figured if I was going to be late we may as well have lunch as well.

anyway - at your new bed, we are going to order our new bedroom stuff in the next couple of weeks, I was out buying material for new bedroom blind this morning and have bought some new bedside lights (I don't have one since DS1 broke it) I am hoping the bedroom will be painted with wall paper up by the time my old school friends come to stay at the end of march.

Anyway, I too have a very fussy eater, DS1 is fantastic and will eat anything and everythin DS2 is a PITA and if he wasn't average height and weight I would seriously worry about how little he eats. I have backed off for now but gently add things to see if he will eat them. I am trying to be all house of tiny tearaways about it and not let him sense my stress.

Going for now, have had pate with toast, salmon and salad and now we have fruit tartlets

romanitcal thoughts to you all. may be back later - depends if there is a Z in the month

galen · 15/02/2009 07:35

Morning all!

We had a nice evening. Steak in peppercorn sauce....heart shape choc&rasberry gateux with cream.... bit of bubbly LOL
Late night for me - after 10.30

TheMadHouse · 15/02/2009 08:06

Morning all

Glad you had a nice night galen - we only did the bedroom just before christmas and it is really nice pale green - all calming and relaxing.

I am off to collect mum for lunch
