Smellie duck feather pillows

I bought two pillows yesterday in IKEA and they are labled as containing wild fowl. They really really stink of duck! I have taken the plastic off and am airing them but I am not convinced the smell will go away.

Is this normal? Should I take them back or try to get rid of the smell?

Its foul Help!

The smell should go away....we bought a down mattress cover (lovely!) it took quite a while for the smell to go, luckily it was the summer so it spent a couple of days on the washing line....other than that use nice smelling, strong, conditioner on your pillowcases as that helps mask the 'foul' smell

We had this problem with some duck feather pillows. It just didn't seem to fade so in the end we washed and tumble dried them - the tumble drying is really important to make sure the feathers fluff up and don't clump. It did the trick anyway, they no longer stink!

o no! I'll have to get a tumble dryer now!
