Hi Ladies

Well this is my first post on mumsnet. I am 37 years old with 3 dogs and twins on the way. (I am 26 weeks)

My dogs are fab but they molt so much!! I hoover every day but its not really enough. My other half suggested hooveing twice a day this weekend...i nearly died. He works away during the week and with twins in route and 3 dogs to walk i think hoovering twice a day might be a tad too much lol

Hence my investment in a Roomba 530.

I think i might be a little mad buying it so any tips or reviews on this would be great. At the moment its on charge, only 15 hours to go and then i can see if my new living helper earns its keep.

Thanks and hello to everyone

Sarah

Hi Sarah- welcome to mumsnet.

I am a proud owner of a roomba too,it is fab.
As for tips ,well if your house is like mine and open plan the roomba is much more efficient if you make it do one room at a time.
Is the 530 the programmable one? Mine isn't programmable, wish it was though.
No other tips really other than empty after each use and sit back and enjoy

If you do a search for Roomba on mumsnet you will find there's a bit of a fanclub I have the basic model and it's great I have 2 cats, 2 dogs and 2 mucky kids and roomba just helps us keep on top of the mess. We bought the inlaws one for Christmas and much to my disappointment (was planning on stealing it back because they have a new advanced one) they love it too.
Can't think of any tips, just try not to watch it all the time, I like to put mine down just before we go out, that way I'm not mesmorised by it

Thanks girls.

I felt rather foolish getting it. My other half thought i was slightly crazy too but i just want it to help me keep on top of things. Even though i hoover every night the next morning the kitchen (where the dogs sleep) and the lounge where they sit with me in the evening watching tv still have lots of hairs.

No mine isnt the one you can programme its the 530 rather than the 560 but based on cost i just went for this. Its £160 fro costco which i think it about the cheapest i have seen it in the uk.

What about putting a cotton wool ball with lavendar on in the bin section? Maybe i am getting a step too far lol
