What is the best oven cleaner?

Actually I've more or less done the oven now I need to tackle the shelves.
I'm tempted to buy new ones it's that bad.

Agree that if my oven did not have self cleaning sides it would no doubt be even more disgusting than it is.

So any supermarkets? How about homebase? I'm about to go now.

BTW, the Oven Pride is less then £4 . I find I get 2 or 3 applications out of that if I don't use it on the shelves (which don't seem to get as manky as quickly as the walls and floor of the oven itself).

I always soak the shelves of my oven and grill in Aerial washing powder. I have a large plastic tub use a cup of powder and hot water and put them in and leave for a couple of hours. Take them out and rub with a Brillo pad have been using that method for years.
