Jumper knitted by MIL for DS shed's a lot of fibers - should he wear it?

MIL says that the jumper is lambs wool and it is a lovely jumper by by the end of the day it's all over his t-shirt and he definitely puts the jumper in his mouth (5.5mo)

Should I quietly put it away?

ds has worn wool since he was a newborn.

we've never had any problems with him sucking his jumpers. if he has an allergic reaction thats different so i would let him wear it.

also, what do think babies were wrapped up in centuries ago before cotton was readily avaiable?

it's just the amount that is sheds that worries me..... don't want wool to become his major source of nutrition

it will shed less and less and then start to bobble and felt.

i really wouldnt worry about it, he will put far worse things in his mouth.

try gently handwashing it in cold water with baby soap, that'll shift alot of the spare fibres.

LOL about the 'much worse stuff in his mouth'

He was sick down it yesterday so it's in the laundry basket now - will handwash cool with soap flakes but give it a good agitate to get as many loose fibers off as possible.

Thanks
