ok ok before the comedians among you start sniggering, this is on clean sheets. They come out of the wash with slightly yellowing, crusty patches on them... particularly at the top of the duvet cover that goes nearest the head end of the bed, and pillowcases. It seems to be more prevalent on dh's side of the bed, is he just a big smelly greaseball and he's leaving deposits on my snowy white sheets? And how on earth can I get rid of them, I put them through a 60 degree wash and that didn't shift it.

No! Does he know about his crusty deposits?

HeadFairy · 26/01/2009 14:07

He doesn't wear anything in bed so I reckon that's why it's all over the bottom sheet too. He must sweat buckets! No wonder he downs a massive glass of water every morning!

Oh I see girlandboy.... yes he does. I'm always saying to him "why is your side of the bed yellow?" he thinks I'm being ridiculous and the solution is to buy black sheets (!!!!!) That's such a bloke solution, buy sheets that hide the dirt rather than getting rid of the dirt. It's the fact that they're still yellow and crusty after they've been washed that gets me.... I'll try the borax thing. I was soaking in Biotex and it seemed to help, but as it's a cold soak I imagine it won't help that much. Need something hot hot hot to dissolve the grease!

My dh gets too hot & we have the same arguments about heating - me in flannel pj's, vest, socks and hot water bottle while he's forever throwing the duvet off.

Haven't found any crusty deposits yet though

I reckon if a 95 degree wash with borax doesn't do it then he is definitely an alien life form, headfairy

Ok bella, if that doesn't save my sheets I'll invest in some plastic sheets for the little green man I married
