How often do you clean your dishwasher?

I know it's been done here before but DH wants to know and I can't find another thread.

I picked up a couple of dishwasher tips from the person who came to repair ours. He said don't use tablets, (apparently they gradually clog up the machine so I've switched to powder now). He also advised sprinkling a little powder on the inside of the door, every few times you run the dishwasher.

Our dishwasher does seem cleaner now!!

If mine needs a run through on empty, I tend to alternate between white vinegar and the finish stuff. If I'm just doing the vinegar, I quite often stick the powder/conditioner drawer from the washing machine in at the same time.
