I've always avoided ironing but since i'm now (have been for 3years) a sahm it has become my 'job' which i make up as i go along-most things i get away with....except trousers How on earth do you iron them properly? Especially if they have a crease????? I too scared to iron the right way in incase i ruin something...so how do you do the creases? I can't believe how long it has actually taken to ask someone

I don't know if it's the right way.... I put the side seams together so that the trouser legs are flat, lay them down on teh ironing board, lift the top leg back on itself, then iron the 'inside' of the bottom leg to set the crease. I then turn the trousers over and repeat the process. If needed you can then do the 'outside' of each leg. The top part of the trousers I do by putting them over the end of the board, with the board inside, and just going round. It sounds horribly complicated - and I'm not suer if my desciption makes it clear! It works for me though.

If you're worried about ironing directly onto the fabric, put a muslin suare or tea towel or something on top first.

Second covering them. If I need to do a crease I put a tea towel or a t-shirt or something over the trousers so iron isn't going directly on them.
But I never do a crease, in fact I have enough trouble trying to get the creases out!

Thank you! Why didn't I think of that ! I don't iron a lot (thank god) but dp's once smartly creased work/suit trousers are looking very bad at the mo-they need the creases back in badly!!
Seeline-I actually managed to follow your description-so it can't have been too complicated
