I've blocked my drain....

I know it's because DH insists on filling the washing up bowl with fatty pans and then leaving the water to go cold....
What can I do that doesn't involve great expense?

if it's just congealed fat - try pouring copious amounts of boiling water (from the kettle) down the drain. It can take a while.

Otherwise, you can buy drain unblockers at any supermarket for between £3 and £5 which work well.

squirt some neat fairy liquid

leave for a while

pour over a kettle of boling water
leave a bit more

plunge

repeat as a above

then pour down loads of soda crystals and do this regualrly from now on...

aboutr 4+tbsp of soda crystals sluched with boiling water
