Can I save glasses that have gone smeary in a dishwasher?

They aren't expensive wine glasses (quite the opposite which may be the problem!) and I am tempted to throw them away and start again, but has anyone has any ideas on how to get them back to they are at least clear? They look horrible! I use tablets in the dishwasher and heard that glasses don't smear if you use liquid cleaner.

It's not "smeary" though is it? Mine got "cloudy" from the dishwasher tablets. Basically they were scratched!

Some gloomy info here

looks like another trip to Ikea for me then. Mine are only cheap and cheerful but they have started to look quite grim!

Have you got enough rinse-aid in the dishwasher? Our glasses went cloudy, we added rinse-aid and they have improved.

According to that article, the drying part can be to blame.

Our glasses are ok (although we never put posh ones in) but we have switched off the drying part of the cycle to save energy.

Our dishwasher goes on overnight and by the morning most stuff has drip-dried anyway.

Might be worth seeing if you can do that on your dishwasher.

You're right girlandboy, they are cloudy, and as per
'Treatment
There is no treatment when this happens. The damage is permanent and irreversible.' from Lilymaids website link, I need to go and buy some new ones as they are beyond anything else! Think I'll not put them in the dishwasher anymore, but I am just lazy....
Thanks for your help everyone!
