What mop do you have?
I've always preferred to get down on my hands and knees and clean using water and a cloth wrung super dry. But since we've extended the kitchen this method is soooooo time-consuming.

If you are anal a mop won't do, but I use a vileda.

I'm a hands and kness gal myself! Started when I was preg with DD1 as an attempt at optimal fetal positioning, nothing to do with cleanliness I'm afraid, just can't be arsed getting the mop out.

My mum is anal about the floor and uses this vileda one, which I believe she wrings over the sink while she is using it. I like it because you can have a few of the pads and bung them in the washer every time. She bought me one but I have never been able to get the floor clean in the first place...is hands and knees how to do this? What product do you use?

I'm not anal about cleaning the kitchen floor, but I have been in the past. My solution was an old fashioned mop, boiling water. First a good scrubby wash (with bleach) and a rinse after. Changing the water in between, obviously.

A another shockingly garbled post from me there...

I have always been a mop and bucket girl, tried one of those buckets with two sections, one for clean and one for soapy water, but couldn't get on with it. Lately i have been giving the floor a hands and knees clean once a week (if i have time!) and then the rest of the time give it a quick go with the mop. I found it came up fantastically with the hands and knees job and i now wouldn't dream of using the mop all the time!!! Also seems to stay looking cleaner longer and you can get into all the little corners and crevices! How sad am I

Thanks everyone. Might give the microfibre cloth one a go - the clean freak in me likes the idea of being able to bung it in wash.
