uh oh....lipstick on carpet. I have a bad feeling about this.

I managed to tread pink lipstick all over my beige living room carpet.
I applied Vanish Carpet stain remover about 3 hours ago, but it is still VERY pink.
Y'know when you get that sick feeling in the pit of your stomache? Well, I am getting that now.
Having looked on the web for tips on getting it out, there seem to be lots of methods, rubbing alcohol or vaseline on it for a start. But - what if that makes it worse?
Has anyone actually got a failsafe tip on how to get lipstick out of the carpet?
Please help!

could you put a tiny bit more lipstick in the corner of the carpet somewhere to use as a test patch for the alcohol/vaseline?

I wonder if ironing it with brown paper might help, initially?

With brown paper between carpet and iron. The paper will absorb the wax from the lippy.

though it might not work now it's been vanished?

Then you'd just have a smaller stain to deal with and the colour might come out with clear alcohol.
