Kitchen needs deep cleaning...

I need to totally sort my kitchen out (see previous thread on rat infestation - BOAK!) and want to have a massive deep clean (i.e. all units pulled out, totally cleaned underneath, behind, etc). Perfectly happy to pay someone else to do it - professionally-like. Just not quite sure where to start...!

Am I looking (in the yellow pages, say) for 'cleaners', 'professional cleaners', 'specialist cleaners' or even 'commercial cleaners' as they are more likely to have the useful equipment required to de-rancidise a kitchen like mine...?

Does anyone have any suggestions of either nationwide firms who do specialist cleaning jobs, or good experience of a company in the Bristol area...? Ta ducks!

no idea as I'm not anywhere near you at all, just wondered did you manage to get rid of the rats?

Aah! Thanks for asking, Lucysmam. That's really sweet of you! The rat man came and has filled in quite a few holes, laid bait and traps, etc. Since then we haven't had any in the house as far as I know (no evidence anyway) but have definitely heard them scrabbling and squeaking under the house near where there had been established holes. Whether that's because they are trying to get through the filled in holes or whether they have eaten poison and are scrabbling and squeaking because they are dying somewhere remains to be seen - what a lovely thought! Am hoping that all the trouble they have caused will now be over, but who knows?! The day the rat man came, they flooded the kitchen by chewing through the cold water feed pipe to the washing machine - little buggers! It's been horrible, but I hope it's being dealt with now. THanks for remembering and asking...really nice of you!

You have had a terrible time, i really feel for you. We had a little experience of this but nowhere near as bad as you! I think you deserve a medal for putting up with it and just getting on and sorting it out etc.,!! Well done You might get abit of a smell now if they are dying under the floor but hopefully it won't last long or the man will come back and take the dead bodies away!!
How about just getting the yellow pages out and calling a few commercial cleaners?

Cleaners coming tomorrow to deep clean kitchen - yay! quite pricey, but well worth it and probably very long overdue - won't recognise the place! They'll even clean out the oven that's been on my to-do list for years ages!

The most significant problem I have is that I am extremely allergic to rats (kept them as pets for about 10 years until gradually increasing allergy became too severe to continue) so I have also been having a dreadful time with really quite severe asthma for the last 6 weeks or so as a result of them establishing themselves in the house. I am just hoping this will be the start not only of reclaiming the house but repairing my lungs too! Thanks for your support and lovely comments.

How does it look then???!!! Good i hope
How terrible that you ended up suffering from asthma aswell, they really put you through the mill these rats didn't they!
Alls well that ends well (as they say!) hopefully!!
