Breast fed baby poo staining clothes..... how to get it out?

I'm sure it didn't stain with last two babies. Praps boys are more toxic?

Am using Persil Non-bio liquid packs. Praps need to use biological. Am pre-treating with vanish and then washing at 40 or 60 - staining at both temperatures.

Shoudl I just bleach?

In the event that you find some sunshine, just stick the clothes out in it. It's miraculous on poostains. If you've tumble dried it though, you're probably stuck with it.

no, don't bleach.

soak with a little persil and washing soda crystals.

rinse well.

then wash.

then dry outside in whatever sun you can find.

not too late even if you've tumble dried.

trust me, i'm the laundry queen.

ahhh sunshine. That explains alot. Older babies were Feb and June and I didn't have a tumble drier.

Having said that I'm sure I woudl have noticed if it came out of washing machine marked.

Thank you laundry queen!

if that doesn't work, then, take the most radical step: spray with the Vanish.

then wash in 1/2 bio powder, the other half soda crystals, even at 40.

dry on the line.

the stain will come out and then chuck it in with your next load of bio/40 degrees stuff.

Never heard of Soda crystals.

you can find them in any supermarket, £shop, etc.

they're just sodium . . . erm. . . something ending in -ate.

they're harsh, though. hence, wear gloves whilst rinsing with it and if you do a baby's clothes in them rinse it out.

but soda crystals will get that stain out.

Soda crystals are fab, and only about 40p a packet. Buy a few at a time as they've got loads of uses.

But sunshine is the ultimate cure for poo stains. Or even moonlight. It doesn't need to be warm, just bright.

PortAndLemon · 09/01/2009 06:57

Agree sunshine is best. Just wash normally and put out in sunlight for several hours. It doesn't need to be warm.

For us- we soaked in nappy soak (Boots' own brand non-bio anti-bacterial)- just soak in a bucket with cool water and some (I just poured a 'bit' in ) soaked overnight, shoved in machine the next day with everything else- I only ever washed on 30 degrees.
DD's stuff always came out pristine.
We never got any sun here
