Coke to clean

I am sure I once saw on Kim and Aggie that Coke can be used to clean black burnt 'won't come off in dishwasher' bits off?
I had some left over gone flat diet coke from christmas, so put it in offending frying pan (metal) and let it come to boil.
It hasn't worked. Black bits still there.
Has anyone else tried this? Did it work? What am I doing wrong?

I think the idea is to snort it, then plunge your jitters and adrenaline into scrubbing like your life depends on it. That's how it works.

paperc you are soooo funny . i tried the washing powder soak overnight thing with my burnt pot, that worked , but took ages to wash/rince off the persil.

i do use smartprice cola to clean down the plugholes/drain. think its pure acid or something, the smartprice lemonade shifts beetroot stains too.asda aces use it!

aahh, i might try leaving it in pan without heating overnight. tbh, there are now light brown stains next to the black burnt bits!

try a bottle of household ammonia (about £2 from Boots) - you only need a bit and it'll last ages so much cheaper in the long run that "normal" cleaners. Put a bit on a damp cloth, but the cloth and the burnt pan/tray whatever in a plastic bag. Leave outside over night - the burnt bits just flake off.
