strange question as its probably individual preference, but mine has been up since the 1st of december and now i really want to take it down and get it tidied away so i can sort the whole room out( its a rather large tree 7 foot by 5 foot!)just wanted to check that it isnt unlucky to take it down tomorrow!

is 12th night the 6th?
perhaps the 5th in that case, or even the 4th.

WingsofanAngel · 01/01/2009 12:41

Ours was done about 1/2 hour ago, I think tradition says the 12th night.

The tree is the last decoration we take down, along with wreath on front door, usually on the morning of the 6th.

Other christmassy things, holly on mantlepiece, above pictures, cards and mistletoe etc I slowly remove over the coming days so the house slowly gets back to normal.

whitenoise · 01/01/2009 12:47

ours came down a few days ago

mosschops30 · 01/01/2009 12:49

Ours has been down since 28th. Ive taken the cards down today.
Its only unlucky if you leave them up after 12 days (which is the 5th Jan I think), no unlucky to take them down before

Did mine this morning and was relieved as always to put it out for the bin men. It was a really nice tree but big and needles had started to fall. Plus the cats had pulled down the lights and tinsel and scattered quite a few of the baubles so it looked a bit of a mess really

i love it when we get the tree up every year but also love it when it comes down!!
